Description/Job Summary

Job Title: Staff Accountant

Reports to: Accounting Supervisor, Accounts Receivable

Job Summary: Responsible for the coordination and management of ASHP high volume customer accounts; assures the proper and timely application of unapplied receipts; timely and accurate management of distributor accounts; and monitoring specific accounts as needed.  Works with the Accounts Receivable (AR) team and other ASHP departments to research and resolve any open AR account balances.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Review AR balances. This includes working closely with all staff directly responsible for open account balances.
  2. Responsible for monitoring of unapplied receipts; reviews balances beyond policy guideline; and puts accounts on credit stop when needed.
  3. Responsible for the reconciliation of distributor and sales agents accounts. This includes the application of payments; the review of orders and returns; and the monitoring of outstanding account balances.
  4. Responsible for submitting all Veterans Administration accreditation invoices through their payment portal.
  5. Review and submit government contracts and requests for quotes for accreditation services program to Chief Financial Officer for approval.
  6. Responsible for supplemental AR reporting and some general ledger account reconciliation, including preparation of schedules for the annual audit.
  7. Act as a back-up for the AR Accountant when needed.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Four year degree in accounting.
  • Experience or knowledge of accrual accounting and reconciliations.
  • Experience or knowledge of government contracts and collections on government entities.
  • Non-profit background a plus.
  • Strong technical accounting skills.
  • Analytical thinking skills.
  • Decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Personal credibility.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook applications.
  • Great Plains, Concur, and Personify experience a plus.
