Description/Job Summary

The Development Assistant is responsible for supporting all aspects of the ASHP Foundation’s individual and corporate fundraising initiatives, including weekly donations reports, Corporate Partners Program, annual appeals, special events, prospect research, and donor cultivation processes.

This position will be based onsite in our Bethesda, MD office, and the employee in this role will be working in a hybrid environment, consistent with Association-wide ASHP policies applicable to HQ-based employees.  The base salary for this position is $58,000-$63,000.  ASHP offers a comrehensive benefits plan.  You may view more details regarding our benefits on our careers page.

What You'll Be Doing:

  1. Creates and distributes detailed weekly and monthly donation reports to the Development staff.
  2. Supports all activities of the Corporate Partners Program, including serving as a point of contact with partners to coordinate regular check-in meetings and in-person meetings at ASHP conferences, track and ensure that all benefits are being implemented, track partnership renewals, submit invoices, schedule webinars, support the annual in-person Corporate Partners Meeting, and manage the contact list.
  3. Assists with new corporate partner onboarding process and coordinate benefits with relevant ASHP departments.
  4. Helps create and send corporate communications, including Corporate eNewletters and Corporate eAlerts.
  5. Assists with coordinating basic corporate membership program donation requests through corporate/philanthropic organization's web-based grant portals and works with the program staff to submit online program grant applications.
  6. Tracks all development activities as well as maintain files and materials. Coordinate with Senior Administrative Coordinator to ensure consistent and accurate donor records.
  7. Supports the Foundation's Midyear Clinical Meeting donor receptions, signage, and events; Summer Meeting donor events and signage; and other donor events as needed.
  8. Supports peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns.
  9. Become well-versed in email distribution system and website content management system.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to ASHP:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Two years or more professional non-profit work experience with a demonstrated track record in supporting multiple projects.
  • Proven experience in supporting multiple projects and initiatives with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with individual donors.
  • Innovative Thinking:  use your experience and knowledge to propose new ideas and approaches to improve aspects of the individual giving program components where appropriate.
  • Proven project management skills, with demonstrated success in organizing work, meeting deadlines, and setting priorities.
  • Proficient data analysis skills and experience working with donor databases.
  • Ability to work with diverse constituents and volunteers, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to maintain highly sensitive and confidential donor information.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstances.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Available to travel (travel anticipated to be twice per year and will be domestic).
  • Computer literacy, including experience and proficiency with database and office productivity software. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and donor databases. Experience with In Design and other design software a plus.
  • Ability to synthesize and produce reports, issue briefs, background papers, etc.
  • Knowledge of healthcare or pharmacy a plus but not required
